报告摘要

In this talk, I will present a general idea and basic concepts on Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) algorithms and some successful applications and a key challenging issue. Then, a bi-orthonormal block density matrix renormalization group algorithm is newly developed. It shows significantly improved performance of large-scale numerical simulations of quantum many-body systems, in which a renormalized space partition of the two (bi-orthonormal) reduced density matrices is implemented to fulfill the prerequisite for the bi-orthogonality of the left and right eigenvectors. Specifically, by taking the spin-1 bilinear-biquadratic model as an example, we show that a three-fold degeneracy in ground state of the reduced density matrix is employed to reduce a condition number resulting from the non-orthogonality between the left and right eigenvectors. Finally, by taking the (non-Hermitian) transverse field Ising model, we demonstrate the successful application to interacting fermions in Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with nonreciprocal hoppings and imaginary complex chemical potential, exhibiting novel many-body topological states.

报告人介绍

王孝群,浙江大学求是讲席教授、理学部副主任。国家杰出青年基金获得者(2003),教育部长江学者特聘教授(2007),科技部重点研发计划首席科学家(2017,2021,2022)。曾任中国科学院理论物理研究所研究员、中国人民大学物理系教授、系主任,上海交通大学鸿文讲席教授及交大理学院副院长。2022年起任浙江大学物理学院求是讲席教授。兼任国际纯粹与应用物理联合会(IUPAP)C20委员、中国物理学会软物质与生物物理分会副主任、教育部科技委委员、教育部物理学类专业教学指导委员会委员等。长期从事量子多体物理及其相关方法的研究,取得了一系列具有国际影响的发展。
